History The Board of Directors of VENTURE Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited decided on October 12th, 2006 to form a Children’s Foundation to replace the social action of VENTURE’s annual children’s Christmas party. It was determined that many companies on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate held similar activities during the Christmas Season and there was an overabundance of this type of activity. VENTURE desired to broaden its social impact by assisting the less fortunate children throughout the year rather than at Christmas time only. After several meetings, the Foundation’s Board of Directors gathered on 30th March 2007 to develop a strategic plan for the period 2007-2009. At this meeting it was unanimously decided that the work of the foundation would focus on children between the ages of Five (5) and Twelve (12) years. Mission and Vision of the Foundation MISSION: To improve the lives of children through community-based activities. VISION: Enhancing the lives of children for a better society. Funding The Foundation began with seed funds of $200,000.00 from the parent body, VENTURE Credit Union, plus $54,016.00 in donations from members. All funds were placed in an interest bearing account so that the interest accrued combined with future donations would fund charitable activities throughout the years. As with other charitable organizations, it is the Foundation’s intention not to erode the initial subvention or ongoing principal received, but to utilize the interest earned component to meet its objectives. Activity Also coming out of the Foundation’s strategic session was its first initiative: two music appreciation oriented holiday camps. These camps were successfully run over the 2007 August Holidays and catered to a total of 40 children. Participation Members are urged to contribute ideas, expertise, time, funds and other resources in order to continuously improve the function of the Foundation. Children's Foundation Donation Form
